THE AUTHOR BEHIND THE WORLDS
I’ve wanted to be an author since kindergarten. At five, a timeout in the hallway became a chance to write stories. Even when I drifted away from reading and writing, the stories kept forming in the back of my mind.
For years, I told myself I’d write novels when I retired. At thirty, I decided life was too short to keep putting it off. There were too many stories I wanted to tell.
I grew up on Redwall and Eragon, and found my way back to books through Dune. Frank Herbert, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George R.R. Martin made me want to build worlds of my own. Brandon Sanderson’s writing lectures helped show me how.
Now I write about good people holding on in bleak places. Some stories are dark and tragic; others leave more room for hope. What draws me in is loyalty, courage, and what people will do for each other.
By day, I work in IT for a nonprofit healthcare facility. Most mornings, I write before work, often starting around 5:30. I live in Casa Grande, Arizona, with my wife and kids, and I hope to write stories they’ll enjoy someday.
